Decay's mum (Gran, from X's perspective) wanted to go out to dinner for Decay's birthday. So, last Saturday, we went to David's Restaurant in Prahran for some Northern Chinese foodage. We also had DKtE, Stirfry Ninja, and my parents along for the fooding.

We pre-advised that we'd need a high-chair, so X got to sit on one of those chairs that slings onto an adult chair, with straps to hold him in. He was pretty happy with the arrangement for the most part, but understandably got a bit bored when there wasn't anything to do (well, mostly eat).

We did a bit of menu-perusing, and ended up ordering the following:
The hot and sour seafood soup was a pretty big serve, I reckon it would've served two. DKtE didn't want soup and so she had some Spring Onion pancakes, which X had some for his fingery food too.
The peking duck was ok - I thought there was too much sauce in the pancakes, but Decay's a sucker for peking duck on any menu.
We then had rice with the main dishes - the mongolian lamb had lots of cooked-down leeks, and was probably my favourite. The ginger scallops were ok - I thought the scallops might've been a touch overdone cos they were a little bit chewy, but still tasty. We probably ended up with one dish more than we really needed, but hey, we had leftovers for an easy dinner a couple of nights later!
We gave X a chicken rib to chew on - he loved gnawing on the ends! He pretty much tried a bit of everything.
Dessert was Red bean pancakes with icecream for everyone, and a banana fritter for DKtE. X quite liked the icecream that Goong-Goong gave to him *grin*
I know that what we picked out wasn't exactly what I know Northern Chinese to be (more dumplings, and steamed/fried buns to accompany instead of rice), but the food was good, the service was efficient (although they had this compulsion to want to clear away the plate we were using as staging area for X's next bite of food when it wasn't hand-held!). I'm not sure if our request wasn't heard, or they didn't have it, but we ended up with jasmine tea instead of oolong tea. Despite this, it was probably the nicest jasmine tea I'd had in a long time ! I felt a bit odd about taking photos of the food for some reason - maybe it was because we were sharing things family-style on a long table rather than lazy-susan style, so I didn't want to keep hungry people waiting!
